Hey, how you doin’ guys?
I wasn’t going to post a TBR this month, since I hardly ever follow them anyways. But even if we’re already halfway through the month, I changed my mind and decided to do it as a form to maybe hold myself accountable. I have some books I REALLY need to read in September, so maybe if I make things official I’ll have a bit of shame and actually follow through with it.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter #2) by J.K. Rowling
Following up with my reread of the series. This is simply the most important book of all time for me. It was the first one of my book collection (I had borrowed book 1 so I didn’t own it until much later), and it represents the beginning of my personal library. In case you haven’t noticed how much this means to me, just check the name of my blog haha. I’m actually kind of late with this reread, I need to be done with book 7 by November, so I might read book 3 this month as well, but who knows.
Furyborn (Empirium #1) by Claire Legrand
Here it is again. I don’t know why I’m stuck on this book. No
scratch that, I do know. This is a big, complex high fantasy, and I’m intimidated by it. I need to stop procrastinating and actually pick this up. I have the damn audiobook, for heaven’s sake, it shouldn’t be so hard. Why do I have to be such a mood reader?
Shadow of the Fox (Shadow of the Fox #1) by Julie Kagawa
Like Furyborn, this was part of my last month’s TBR, and obviously I also haven’t read it yet. This book will come out October 2 and I need to read this ARC asap. It’s not like I don’t want to read it, the japanese mithology aspect really intrigues and even reminds me of my own writing project (although mine is more on fantasy Imperial China, not Japan), so I have more than enough reasons to read it soon.
What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
Another repeat from my August TBR. It comes out on October 9. I’ve waited for a collab like this for so long that I don’t get why I haven’t read this ARC yet. I think it’s because of my expectations. I’m not sure I could handle being disappointed by both Adam and Becky at the same time, since I love them so much. There’s little chance I won’t like this book, so I need to face my fears and pick this up already.
A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi
I was sent this ARC recently and wasn’t expecting it, since the book comes out on October 16 already. Now I must read it, so I’m including it on this TBR. I’m curious to see what Tahereh does with a contemporary book. I found some enjoyment on her Shatter Me series, but that one was quite lacking on worldbuilding (among other things). That series was totally a character driven story, so I wonder if she’ll do better in a modern setting, where she can focus more on that same aspect. Fingers crossed.
What are the books you want to pick up in September?
