Hey guys, how you doin’?
Today I’m back with part #4 of my Popular Books I Haven’t Read Yet series. Wow we’re halfway through this series of posts already, that’s crazy. Parts #1, #2, and #3 are linked at the end of the post, in case you’d like to check them out. This time we’ll be going through some of the 2014 releases I haven’t picked up yet.
Here they are:
The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson
I love Magnus. He was one of the few things that I legit liked on City of Bones. I can’t wait to read this book and see more of his adventures, but that won’t be happening anytime soon, since I’m doing publication order and I’ve only just finished Clockwork Angel.
Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes #1) by Sara Raasch
I’ve heard good things about this fantasy. Apparently the courts are based on seasons or something of the sort. I’m intrigued and I hope to read it soon.
The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu
Another Marie Lu book I haven’t read. To be honest, the main reason for that is because I thought this book was dystopia, but someone recently told me it’s fantasy, so I’m much more likely to pick it up now.
You (You #1) by Caroline Kepnes
I wanted to read this, but I ended up starting to watch the tv adaptation because the creepy stalker guy is played by Penn Badgley and I was curious. I’ve watched like 3 episodes and I really enjoyed it so far. From what I’ve seen they did a good job adapting the 2nd person perspective. I’m still curious about the book, though, so I might read it eventually.
The Iron Trial (Magisterium #1) by Holly Black, Cassandra Clare
I own this book, but to be honest, the reviews for the sequels kind of discouraged me to pick it up. At least any time soon. I still want to give it a shot, because this gives me early Harry Potter and Percy Jackson vibes.
The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling #1) by Erika Johansen
The hardcover is beautiful. Just saying. I do want to read it, but I hear it is kind of slow, so I need to be in the right mood for it.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell
I own all of Rainbow’s YA books, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get to her adult ones. I’ve only read Fangirl so far, and I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t enough for me to get a taste for her writing. I intend to pick Carry On next, I’m really excited for it actually, then we’ll see how things goes after that one.
On the Fence by Kasie West
I’ve read only one Kasie West book and I had fun with it. It was easy and quick, and this is certainly on my to read list. Her novels are gonna be those inbetween books, for when I need something light and fun to take my mind off of another heavier story.
Ruin and Rising (The Grisha Trilogy #3) by Leigh Bardugo
This is the only book standing between me and finally being able to read Six of Crows, so this is a high priority read for sure. I’ll pick it up this month.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
I’ve heard mixed things about this one. Plenty of people like it, and plenty of people don’t. I guess I’ll have to read it myself to see where I stand. I’m cautiously optimistic – I’m hardly ever surprised by mystery books.
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
I’ve never read any of Morgan Matson’s books, but I’d like to. I’m more interested in other of her titles though, like Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, The Unexpected Everything, and Save the Date.
Bird Box by Josh Malerman
I think this book would mash well with my recent appreciation for creepier books, and since it’s a short one, I could feel inclined to pick it up more easily. There’s a Netflix movie adaptation coming out soon with Sandra Bullock as lead.
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton
I gotta say, I’m not really drawn to magical realism. I don’t know, I guess I just prefer high or urban fantasy. Still, I own this book and I hear great things about it, so I intend to read it someday.
After (After #1) by Anna Todd
This is one I’m certain I won’t be reading. I just don’t care for this kind of romance and I’ve heard plenty of bad things about this particular one. Apparently there’s a movie coming out, and from what I’ve seen from the trailer, both the movie and the book are not for me. I know this book was first published on Wattpad, so good for the author, getting traditionally published and then getting a movie adaptation.
Some other 2014 releases I haven’t read:
- City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare
- Silver Shadows (Bloodlines #5) by Richelle Mead
- Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3) by Laini Taylor
- The Unbound (The Archived #2) by Victoria Schwab
